Curb appeal doesn’t need to be a budget-breaking ordeal. Sometimes a new front door color is all you need to make a huge impact.
We, as women, often put off seemingly big projects, don’t we? Like sprucing up the front of our homes for added curb appeal because we over-think and over-analyze things.
Surely, I’m not the only one who does this.
But girlfriend, giving your home major curb appeal points does NOT always need to be as complicated as we make it. I have to say, after painting my own front door, I realized how something as simple as a fresh coat of paint can make a world of difference to how I feel about my home.
So when Deco Art asked if I would like to help them bless someone by painting their front door, I was delighted.
*Pssst….the sweet people at DecoArt are giving away TWO jars of this paint to one of you (your choice of color)! See end of the post to enter. π

The Backstory
Meet the sweet person that Deco Art and I got to bless.
Jodi is a devoted wife and busy mom of three. She also owns and operates a local business whose mission is to help and empower people to feel better so they can function at their very best. Her passion for helping others is inspiring and, as you can imagine, keeping all those plates spinning is far more than a full time job.
You know how it is when you’re juggling All The Many Things. Sometimes the “want to do” items on your list get pushed to the back burner.
And sometimes those things that get pushed aside are household things…such as small updates for your home.
But the people we love and Life always come before “stuff” – and that’s exactly as it should be.
The Door Before…
As you can see, Jodi’s front door wasn’t terrible, but it had seen some wear and tear, and was a little faded. It was a project she had been meaning to get to for a while…but life wasn’t slowing down long enough for her to tackle it.
So when DecoArt asked if I knew someone who would love a front door makeover, I thought of Jodi.
She was delighted to be able to take that one thing off her “to do” list. And I was happy to be able to do this project for her and be part of DecoArt’s campaign of being a blessing.
We enjoyed looking through the color options and tossing around a few ideas…”classic?” or “statement?” “bold?” or “understated?”
We finally decided on Colonial Black – it’s a classic color that won’t look dated in a year. And since her house has multiple colors already, we knew Colonial Black would be a great accent and would coordinate well with the existing colors.
See all the pretty color options here.
Get great curb appeal in one afternoon
The most time consuming part was trimming out all the window frames and getting into the details of the door – but goodness, it was so worth it. I used this brush for the detail work and this brush for the body of the door.
As with most projects, what I think will take me 2 hours, ends up taking 6. LOL!! (But, to be fair, that included a lunch break and picking up a child from school, AND doing a second door). π I’m guessing one door will take you anywhere from 10-20 minutes (see my video at the end of this post) to 2-3 hours, depending on how many windows and details your door has.
Also, since I had enough paint, I ended up painting her side door that led to the garage, too (see below). The matching doors look great together.
Deco Art Curb Appeal paint dries really fast – yet applies smoothly and doesn’t get tacky. I knew I loved it for my own front door, and painting Jodi’s doors just confirmed how much I love this paint.
It’s a durable acrylic with a beautiful semi-gloss finish. No sealer is required (can I get an amen?) and it gives you excellent resistance to water, scuffs, and fading. Curb Appeal is ideal for wood and metal doors, shutters, railings, and All the Many Things. No need to prime or sand before using…for real. All the praise hands! π
A front door you’ll love…
So I encourage you to set aside the thought that you have to really overhaul the front of your homeΒ (read: rip out landscaping and install new walking paths) in order to get an update that you’ll love.
Sometimes all you need is an afternoon, a jar of Curb Appeal paint, a good brush or two, and your favorite music or podcast in your earbuds while you work.
So, sweet friend, go ahead and paint that front door whatever color your heart desires! It’s such an easy update and your home is worth a few hours of your time. You’ll be so glad you did it.
You got this.

My current door color is a very ugly boring brown. Unfortunately, or fortunately, it has a black iron gate on it that covers it up so it won’t matter if I paint it or not, you won’t be able to see the door! The doors that you painted are gorgeous! Especially the front door that black looks perfect, just like that classic black dress it won’t ever go out of style. So classy Sarah, I always love what you do, you are so awesome!!
Thank you, Belva! I’m so glad you liked it – best of luck in the giveaway! π
everyone said don’t be afraid of color so our door is pumpkin and the storm door is bronze we should have been afraid lol xx
Oh, this made me giggle…I’ve had plenty of “oops” moments, too – don’t feel bad. π Best of luck in the giveaway!

I’m so glad this was an encouragement to you, Laurie! π We all need a little push every once in a while… π Best of luck to you!
I am so sorry but I left 2 comments because the first time I left a comment it said I left out information so I re entered. I hope this does not cause a problem. Thank you again for the chance.
No problem at all – thanks for entering and best of luck! π
Thank you for the push! The front door is sadly in need of new paint! I usually just end up freezing and not doing anything from being overwhelmed! Thank you for the chance.
Beautiful! Love that you could bless a dear friend π
Thank you, Wendy! π
So, my in-laws are coming for Thanksgiving. She probably won’t notice, but *I* would notice a brand new bright happy front door!
Now, I have a question, as well. I have a metal storm door in front of my front door. I kinda have to leave the screen storm door because I have pets that are adorable but a wee bit stupid and THINK the grass is greener outside. (It is, but there is no kibble there). Can I use this paint for the storm door as well?
oh crap. I missed the assignment. My doors are a boring dark brown.
Lol! No worries!! π
Hi Wendy! First of all, you totally made me giggle at your description of your pets. LOL! π
And – yes! You can totally paint your storm door! (that’s exactly what I did for my own front door in the video at the end of this post). π A beautiful new color would be so fun for your door! π
That door is beautiful! You can never go wrong with classic black!
I totally agree- it’s such a striking color. π Thanks Lisa!
My front door is plain stain brown! I can’t believe there is no sanding or priming going on with this paint. Probably have to get rid of the chopping would of the railing, huh? Would love to try it on my front and back door.
No priming or sanding! π This paint is good stuff. Best of luck in the giveaway! π
It’s a boring shade of white, currently.
Sounds like a new color could be just the thing to spruce up your home! π Best of luck in the giveaway! π
I love the colors. My door has been white for years. Now that we have new shutters, itβs time to paint the door.
Oh, a new front door would be so fun to go with your newly painted shutters! π Best of luck in the giveaway! π
Love it
Thanks, Teri!π
My front door is white.
Thanks for commenting- good luck with the giveaway!π
Thank you for the opportunity to win durable paint to refresh our vintage entryway door, which is currently white and in need of new life!
Youβre so welcome! π Nothing like a coat of paint to give a door new life! Best of luck!
I’m going to work on my husband to let me paint the front door. Currently it’s stained and he doesn’t want to change it. If I win the paint how can he say no? π
Lol!!! So true!!! Free paint is a win-win for your front door!ππ
Iβve tried 4 times to leave a comment for your blog for the give away but it just wonβt let me! Is there a problem with the give away that I missed?
Anyway, my front door is just an ugly white and this old house is in desperate need of a face lift.
Iβm sorry, BJ, you donβt see your comments right away because I have to approve all the comments on the blog. Sometimes it takes me a while to catch up. Your comment is here and your entry as noted in the giveaway. Sounds like you would be blwnto put this paint to good use- best of luck in the giveaway.π
Right now my door is an ugly mauve/maroon from when I bought the house, but I’m wanting to paint it a teal color and brighten my porch up!
Ooohhh!!! Teal would be fun!!!ππ
I have a black front door, but it has faded in the sunlight over the past 5 years since we moved here. Painting the door has been on our list for a few years….we just can’t decide on a color!
Deciding on a color can be the hardest part sometimes! π Best of luck in the giveaway! ππ»
Youβve got some awesome curb appeal going! Love the neutral tones and pops of fall color!!
