If you’ve been following along with me here for any length of time, you know that my goal is to create a beautiful, welcoming home…on a budget. And sometimes, when the “budget” part of the beautification process come scowling over my shoulder, I feel hesitant to spend that hard earned cash on things that “feel luxurious” (even if they’re really not expensive and I know they’re worth every penny. Please tell me I’m not alone). Like a beautiful piece of art done by someone you admire – whether that means a piece of pottery, a weaving or a painting. ( I love DIY as much as the next person, but there are some projects I am forced to leave to the professionals). The above mentioned things rate high up there on my “Do Not DIY. That is Not your Area of Giftedness” list. 😉
Handmade Art Prints by GraceLaced
For the longest time, I have followed Ruth (GraceLaced) on IG. Her beautiful watercolors and drawings speak Truth and encouragement. Her blog is delightful and her thoughtful posts are often just the thing that brings renewed strength to my day. The gentle reminders I need of the things that are really important in life. She is a mom of six boys (boy moms unite! :D), a wife, a speaker and an artist – not just with her brushes, but also with her words.
This past winter a dear friend and I got together and started talking about gift ideas for each other. That’s how we roll…instead of playing the guessing game of choosing the “just right” gift, we give each other a few ideas of things we love that we wouldn’t normally buy for ourselves. You know…those things that feel like a small luxury. My list was short. It was one of a few of Ruth’s prints available in her GraceLaced Shoppe.
When we got together to exchange gifts, I was beyond thrilled to receive this “Rock of Ages” print. The quote “I have learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock Of Ages.” (C.H. Spurgeon) spoke perfectly to the events of the past several months. And she knew that.
You may know, because I’ve mentioned it briefly here before, that I lost my Mom very suddenly, very unexpectedly, last July. This print says so perfectly how this past year has felt. It speaks to what I’ve learned. Sometimes the hardest things in life are the things that bring us closest to God.

Easy Way to Display Handmade Art Prints
They are self-explanatory and easy to use. This same technique can be used on any favorite print you have. If your print is large, you may consider placing a small piece of removable tape on the back near the center for added support, as I did.
The canvas background gives more visual weight to the artwork and draws your eye to it even more. This much-loved piece is now displayed in a prominent place in my home as a sweet yet powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness, no matter the waves that life brings.
Ok…wow. Enough with the sadness. All that to tell you that Ruth’s pieces can be a healing salve to the soul and beautiful reminders of the important things in life. Ready for the fun part?
(don’t forget to Pin for later!)
HERE’S THE FUN PART!
I recently contacted Ruth and her sweet assistant, Marcie, asking if I could offer YOU, my readers, some sort of discount code so that you, too, could enjoy some GraceLaced handmade art (whether a watercolor or a drawing) in your own home. I was blown away by their kind and generous response. Not only could the timing of our exchange have been more perfect (their Christmas in July sale is going on NOW – details below), but they also offered to let me give away a FREE print to one of my readers. That’s YOU! This makes me so happy…not only can you get in on a great discount code but I’m also giving away THIS lovely print from Ruth’s GraceLaced Shoppe.
Isn’t it terrific? Ruth blesses us with her stunning work.
Here’s another photo of the giveaway print. It measures at 11×14 and is valued at $24. And it could be yours, free!
