What would you do with an extra four to six hours a day? Start that passion project that’s been on your list for the last six months? Play with your kids? Go for a walk in peace and quiet? Read a book? What’s the first thing that comes to your mind?
What if I told you we could gain those extra 4+ hours each and every day?
As you know, I’ve been listening to all kinds of minimalist, time-creating, margin-making podcasts lately and to say I’ve been challenged is an understatement. Plus, it’s evolved beyond just getting rid of excess “stuff”. It’s become a practice in being present more with my family and loved ones.
Then the other day a sweet friend sent me a link to a “less phone” challenge. As soon as I saw it, I was all in. After thinking about it for a while, I decided this challenge had the potential to be so life changing, I absolutely had to share it with you. Perhaps you are up for doing the challenge with me?
Less phone, more life challenge
First off, go here – to Kate Northrop’s page and get yourself all signed up. Then come back here and tell me “I’m in!” so I know who’s in. Go ahead, I’ll wait patiently right here.
Expected results may include:
- A deeper bond with your children (because you’re not ignoring them while looking at your phone or only halfway paying attention to them as you scroll)
- More romance with your partner (because when you don’t bring your phone to bed, you realize you’re actually sleeping next to someone you love)
- A feeling of calm in your mind and body and a feeling that everything is going to be okay (because disconnecting from the constant influx of information on your phone gives you space to think critically about the world and not go into fight-or-flight all the time)
- Having all this extra time to do whatever you want (like grow your business, make healthy food, express your creativity, or talk to the people you love)
And that’s it, sweet friend! You’re all signed up. (Sidenote: I love that she clearly states on her site that this challenge is NOT a lead in to a paid course. I tire of those. ) 😉
I’ll be doing this less phone, more life challenge right alongside you. (I’m so excited!) And at the end, I think it would be fun for us to come back here and share about our thoughts on how it went.
I anticipate lots of mindless habits will be changed (for me, too!) and more freedom and peace will be found. I find it shocking how much time I waste on my phone and I’m ready for a change. Let’s take back our time, our life – and see what richness and depth we find.
