Welcome and come on in! I’m happy you’re here. Do you like to get little peeks inside people’s homes? I sure do. Well, today I’d like to invite you to come on into our living room/sitting area. I want to show you one of my favorite things…our living room curtains (and share with you my tip on how I got them at a HUGE savings)!
One of the things visitors first comment on when they come into our home is our living room curtains. The curtains are unique – and I love them for that. Even before we had finalized the purchase of our home, I knew the curtains I wanted. I had seen them on a bunch of different high-end websites…but there was a small problem. They were way out of my price range. Like many people, we live on a tight budget and $70-$120 per curtain panel was absolutely out of the question.
So I did what I always do. I went to my beloved Amazon…
*As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Full disclosure here.*
I adore Amazon. Amazon gives great prices on things we want or need AND (with Prime) you get free two day shipping on most items! *insert happy dance here* Anyway, back to the curtains…I did a quick search on ruffled curtains and voila! The exact living room curtains I wanted at a fraction of the cost I’d seen on several other websites. WHY didn’t I think of Amazon first?! Amazon makes me smile yet again. These beauties conveniently come in different lengths and colors, but of course, I went with white. Because white is my favorite color.
Living Room Curtain Lengths
I was super thankful for the different lengths the curtains came in. Our house is heated with a boiler system (which I love) so we have radiators that I needed to work around in all the rooms (which was a bit of a hassle – but I gladly dealt with it since the hot water heat is so nice). 😉
On this wall I purchased two shorter length curtains (60×84″) for the window directly over the radiator and then two longer curtains (60×96″) for over the two side windows. I think the hardest part of the whole thing was deciding how high to hang the curtains. Hang them just high enough so they puddle on the floor (where possible) or hang them high and wide as possible? (A trick I learned through Myquillyn‘s Cozy Minimalist course – which has been one of my favorite investments in my home style journey). As you can see, I decided to go high and wide. I love this technique because it really gives a little more drama – (even though normally I am vehemently opposed to drama – at least in personal life situations.) *smile*
Another View
I am blessed with 3 normal-sized windows and 2 huge picture windows in my living room/sitting area, and these beautiful curtains happily grace each of them. Even though they are “just” white, they provide texture and dimension – which is essential if you’re going with a neutral color scheme. And, again, I was delighted to find the exact look I wanted at a fraction of the cost of designer websites! Thanks again, Amazon.
Oh, and if you find yourself in a place where you need some inspiration for your home and want to love your home again, I can’t recommend Myquillyn‘s book “The Nesting Place” enough. This book was a serious game changer for me and gave me fresh perspective on my home. Here’s my copy below, sitting on my little footstool I recovered – you can read about that here.
‘Til next time,
Sarah

We had a boiler when we lived in upstate NY, and yes the heat is super yummy when it’s frigid outside 🙂
