This blogging gig is such a blast. I have met some of the *greatest* women and it has stretched me and caused me to learn things I would have never guessed I could learn.
But when you first start out, there are so many “experts” telling you what you should and should not be doing; where you should host; where you should stay away from. “It’s Easy!”, they say. “Purchase my course/ webinar/ ebook and everything will just fall into place!”, they say.
Let me tell you something. Blogging is not easy. Things don’t “Just fall into place”.
This Blogging Gig
Now, don’t get discouraged and click away, because here’s the thing:
Blogging isn’t easy – but it’s SUCH a blast. (It has become one of my most favorite things ever).
And things don’t “Just fall into place” – does anything in life do that? 😉
But if you’re able to learn from MY mistakes and MY headaches, then I want that for you.
*This post contains my affiliate links for Lesley’s course. Here’s something you should know. I was raving about this course and telling all my bloggy friends about it long before I became an affiliate. Yep. That’s right. I’ve been a hard-core fan girl ever since I started working through the course and was telling friends how great it is before there was an affiliate program for it. That’s how much I believe in it. Just had to let you know.* 😉
My Blogging Story
When I started blogging, I didn’t even know who Lesley was and had never heard of What The Tech.
Oh, how I wish I had.
I went by some other “expert’s” advice and it turned into such a mess. I was at my wit’s end and about to throw in the towel (seriously). I may have even shed a few frustrated tears.
Then, after an SOS call into a Facebook blogging group, I was introduced to Lesley. And my blogging life was forever changed. Yes. I realize that sounds melodramatic and over-the-top. But I’m dead serious. She helped me out with a bunch of things on my site and when I asked her what I owed her for her time and help, she told me not to pay her – all she asked was that I purchase even just the smallest package of her course she had just released.
I didn’t know she HAD a course and I was more than happy to make the purchase.
Yes, of course she wanted to make a sale. BUT IT WAS MORE THAN THAT – she wanted me to have the knowledge and information for myself so that I wouldn’t have to be forever relying on someone else to help me fix things or figure out how to make my site look the way I wanted it to. Knowledge really is power.
The Blogging Course that Changed Everything
After looking at her course level options, I decided to go all-in and purchase the Master Package – which included her “What the Tech?” ebook, a Blogging Glossary, the “What the Tech?” workbook, and the course guide with a link to her amazing, step-by-step videos and exclusive Facebook group. I happily made my purchase and friends, let me tell you. It was worth every penny.
No.
More than that.
After going through this course, and now knowing the wealth of info provided in it, I would happily pay double the cost of this course.
Yes. It’s THAT good. It has been – hands down – the best investment I’ve made in my blog. Without it, I would have given up after the first month – just because I was so overwhelmed and didn’t know where to go for trustworthy help.
I saved myself hours upon hours of frustration and mental anguish buy using this course. No more searching google and wondering if the info I found was trustworthy. No more hopping from website to website looking for answers. Everything I need (everything YOU need) to start a blog is right here. In What The Tech.
Why is this Blogging Course Different?
I’ve purchased a lot of courses. Most have been pretty good – a couple have been a waste of time and money. But this course is by far my most used, most favorite when it comes to all things website and blog related.
What makes What the Tech different is that Lesley doesn’t just tell you what to do. She SHOWS you what to do in her step-by-step videos. I’m a highly visual learner, so while I can read something and generally figure it out, if I’m SHOWN something, I “get it” so much faster. Again with saving time and brain power. 😉
The exclusive Facebook group that is included in the Master Package is phenomenal. Any time I have a question about something or need to bounce an idea off people who are way more techie than I am, I ask in that group and Lesley and the other women there are quick to respond. There are lots of Facebook groups where the Author/Administrator is rarely there and you have a hard time getting a timely answer. Not so with the What the Tech group.
In Closing
What The Tech is not a one-and-done course. It is a course that you take in your own time, at your own pace. There were some things I just wasn’t ready to tackle right away when I first started. As I’ve grown (I still have a lot of growing to do) I have referred back to the course and videos and have tackled some things that seemed really hard.
It’s so empowering to do something successfully that you didn’t think you could do! What The Tech is a course that grows with you, as you grow.
Goodness. This post turned out to be way longer than I intended. 😉 I just can’t say enough good things about Lesley and What The Tech. If you’ve made it this far, I’m giving you a high-five.
I hope my experience and my story has been helpful to you. I share it because this blogging gig is amazing…if you have a solid foundation. Without a good foundation, I’m afraid you’ll flounder and be frustrated – just like I was before I found What The Tech. And I want better for you.
Wishing you all the best in your journey!
Hi Sarah,
Lesley’s “What the Tech” is one of the best investments I have made since becoming a blogger.
Like you, I’m very much a visual learner. The videos are such value.
The private Facebook group is one of the first places I go to when I get stuck with some techie issue.
Lesley is amazing and gives so much to the blogging community.
Could not agree more with everything you have said!
Yay! I’m so happy to hear that you love the course as much as I do! Lesley really is fantastic and the FB group is essential. Cheering you on in your blogging journey! 😀
Great post. Now it looks like I need a birch tree stump and a sign up for this class. Thanks for sharing. The recommendation means a lot coming from you. Susie
Lol! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tree stump side table and course recommendation. You’re so sweet. <3
Love this book, is a necessity for every blogger so they can manage their own blog changes. And the Facebook group is so very helpful a well.
It really is – I’m so glad you love it, too! 🙂

Good to know because I have not purchased that. Have gotten several other great things but not that one~
Glad it was helpful Debbie – this is by far my favorite foundational course I’ve taken. I’ll be writing a couple more posts about more helpful courses soon, but this is my number one. Glad it was helpful. 🙂
Leslie is the best!!! It’s amazing how much we learn and grow as bloggers. Great post Sarah! High five! 🙂
She really is! Thanks for the kind words, Janice. I’m glad you love her course as much as I do!
